چکیده
The MAC performance of IEEE 802.11 DCF and the IEEE 802.11e EDCA is analyzed in nonsaturated condition which means sometimes the device does not have a packet for transmission. In this paper we assume that there is no generation of flow while the previous flow is in service and the number of packets in flow is geometrically distributed. In the non-saturated condition, the first packet arriving at the idle station is transmitted without entering into backoff procedure. We attempt to model the stochastic behavior of one station as a discrete time Markov chain.

Performance Analysis of IEEE 802.11 Non-Saturated DCF
In the IEEE 802.11MAC layer protocol, the basic access method is the Distributed Coordination Function which is based on the CSMA/CA. In this paper, we investigate the performance of IEEE 802.11 DCF in the non-saturation condition. We assume that there is a fixed number n of competing stations and packet arrival process to a station is a poisson process. We model IEEE 802.11 DCF in non-saturati...
متن کاملAnalysis of the IEEE 802.11 DCF with Service Differentiation Support in Non-saturation Conditions
Although the performance analysis of the IEEE 802.11 Distributed Coordination Function (DCF) in saturation state has been extensively studied in the literature, little work is present on performance analysis in non-saturation state. In this paper, a simple model is proposed to analyze the performance of IEEE 802.11 DCF with service differentiation support in non-saturation states, which helps t...
متن کاملAnalysis of Unsaturation Performance of IEEE 802.11 DCF with and without Slow Contention Window Decrease
Most of analytical models proposed so far for the IEEE 802.11 distributed coordination function (DCF) focus on saturation performance. In this paper, we develop an analytic model for unsaturation performance evaluation of the IEEE 802.11 DCF with and without slow contention window decrease (SCWD). The model explicitly takes into account the carrier sensing mechanism and an additional backoff in...
متن کاملLinear Approximation Model Throughput Performance Analysis of IEEE 802.11 Distributed Coordinated Function in Wireless Lossy Channel
One source of performance degradation in wireless networks is the frame error that occurs because of nonideal channel conditions. Most previous works assume an ideal transmission channel (i.e., no error in transmission), whereas other works assume that the error is constant and exists only in data packets. These previous works do not consider transmission errors in control frames (i.e., RTS, CT...
متن کاملA New Performance Parameter for IEEE 802.11 DCF
In this paper, we define a new performance parameter, named PPT, for 802.11 DCF, which binds successful transmission probability and saturation throughput together. An expression of optimal minimum contention windows (CWmin) is obtained analytically for maximizing PPT. For simplicity, we give a name DCF-PPT to the 802.11 DCF that sets its CWmin according this expression. The simulation results ...
